UK’s leading Fairtrade organisation – Traidcraft
Traidcraft fights poverty through trade, helping people in developing countries to transform their lives.
Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, Traidcraft is the UK’s leading Fairtrade organisation. It has shops throughout the UK selling crafts, tea, coffee, cotton goods, and many other items made in developing countries. The proceeds of which improve the lives of people through their incomes and better working conditions.
One Traidcraft’s Fairtrade Fortnight initiatives is the Big Brew. An event which happens all over the UK – in schools, churches, workplaces and family homes – to host a Fairtrade tea party. The idea is to encourage the purchase of Fairtrade teas and coffees, promote more Fairtrade products, and support overseas development work of Traidcraft’s through fundraising. The aim is to raise £50,000 and to serve 150,000 cuppas.
