Mold Pancake Races with body magic from Slimming World

Mold Town Council and Cittaslow Mold are organising pancake races on Shrove Tuesday, 16th February, starting at 2pm in Daniel Owen Square. Entry is free and pans, pancakes and aprons will be provided. The pancakes are being made and donated by Caffi Florence, Loggerheads.

People can enter on the day, just before the race. Mold 2000 business group and Slimming World have already said they’ll be entering teams. Slimming World will also be on hand to weigh anyone who wants to find out more about losing weight and they can calculate your BMI (body mass index) too.

Teams of 4 run in a relay for the pancake races – each person, wearing an apron, runs one length of Daniel Owen Square, tossing and catching their pancake 3 times. They then hand over their pan, pancake and apron to the next person in their team. They’ll be timed and the fastest adult team and young person’s team, which has tossed their pancakes the correct number of times, will win a prize – which are being kindly donated by Vaughan Davies of Mold and A & L Hughes Funeral Services.

The skill lies not so much in the running of the race but in flipping and catching the pancake.
